Welcome to first round-up of theme park news for 2026! The first few weeks of a new year always seem a little quiet to me, almost like we’re in some sort of holiday hangover. But you only need to look ahead to the month of January to know that the world of theme parks isn’t slowing down at all; rather, we are simply in the eye of the best kind of never-ending storm.

Summer Hotel Discounts and Promotions Announced for Walt Disney World

Disney World almost always has at least a few active hotel promotions if you’re looking to save on your next vacation. Summer 2026 looks even more attractive with the latest wave of discounts.

All guests can save up to 30% on select Disney World Resort hotels for stays of 5 nights or more most nights From May 1 to October 4, 2026. Guests can save up to 25% on stays of 1 to 4 nights in this same period.

If you’re a Florida resident or Disney World Annual Passholder, you’ll save even more. Florida residents can save up to 35% on stays of 4 nights or more for arrivals from From May 1 to June 29. Annual Passholders can save up to 40% on stays of 4 nights or more for arrivals from May 1 to June 29.

The exact amount saved usually depends on the type of resort you book. Luxury resorts tend to offer the highest discounts, but you can still save a good chunk of change even when you stay at a value or moderate resort.

2-Day Free Promotion Announced for Walt Disney World

If the above offers weren’t tempting enough, maybe the next one will be! Customers can get two free nights and days at the theme parks when they purchase a select 4-night, 4-day (or more) Walt Disney World room and ticket package. Essentially, you get a 6 day trip for the price of a 4 night package!

This agreement is valid for arrivals most nights from May 26 to September 15, 2026. You need to act a little faster if you want to take advantage of this offer because it can only be booked until February 15, 2026.

Cool Kids’ Summer will return to Walt Disney World in 2026

Beyond discounts, Disney World offers additional incentives for booking a summer visit. Cool children’s summer, a limited time offer that families who visited last summer may remember, will return in 2026 from May 26 to September 8.

Cool Kids’ Summer offers special activations for young guests, such as dance eveningsadditional morning characters meet and greet in parksand more. Guests staying at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resortt, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Riverside will offer even more experiences and amenities designed for families with young children during Cool Kids Summer, including Scheduled visits from your favorite Disney friends.

Don’t forget that Bluey and Bingo will start making appearances in Disney’s Animal Kingdom starting this summer. The exact start date of the meeting has not yet been announced.

New and recurring kid-centric entertainment will also be part of Cool Kids’ Summer. Families can catch Jessie’s summary, a new show at the Diamond Horseshoe in Magic Kingdom, or the return of DingoCore at EPCOT’s CommuniCore Hall and Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Don’t forget the Free meal plan offer for children — Guests can receive a free Disney Dining Plan for children ages 3-9 when you purchase a package for you and your children that includes a dining plan for all guests ages 10 and older and a room at a Disney Resort hotel.

Free Water Park Entry Dates Announced for 2026

I wanted to particularly emphasize offer of free entry to the water park, although it is technically considered part of the Cool Kids summer season this year. The free water park option is back from May 26 to September 8, which means if you have an arrival date during this time at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you can take advantage of this awesome benefit.

All guests whose names appear on the hotel reservation receive free entry at any Disney World water park on the day of arrival and check-in. Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach will be open during this period, giving you the opportunity to choose which water park you want to enjoy on your first day at Walt Disney World.

• Disney World revealed the closing date for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster with Aerosmith. The last day you can see the original version of the attraction will be March 1st. Starting March 2, the ride will be temporarily closed while it transitions to its new version featuring the Muppets. The new Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will debut in summer 2026.
• runDisney has announced event dates for its 2026-2027 season. Mark your calendars for the following race weekends at Walt Disney World:
  • Wine and dine 2026, October 22 to 25
  • 2027 WDW Marathon Weekend, January 6-10
  • Princess 2027, February 25-March 1
  • Spring 2027 surprise, April 15 to 18
  • Three virtual series will take place in 2026: the first will take place from June 1 to August 31, the Virtual Spooktacular will take place from October 1 to 31, and the Virtual 12Ks of Christmas will take place from December 1 to 31.
• The next Disney Cruise Line ship to join the fleet, Disney Adventure, transferred ownership of the Meyer Werft shipyard to Disney. She is en route from Germany to the Caribbean and Florida for brief stops before heading to her home port of Singapore. The maiden voyage of Disney Adventure is scheduled for March 10, 2026.
