I recently had the chance to sail aboard the new Wish Class ship and I have to say it’s an easy contender for best ship in Disney Cruise Line’s current fleet.
From the moment I stepped on board, I knew I was in for a unique vacation, unlike anything currently available from Disney Cruise Line. If you browse the Disney Treasure soon, here are the six must-do experiences on a week-long cruise. 1. Haunted Mansion Lounge on Disney Treasure
If you’re like me, you’ve lost count of the number of times you’ve visited a haunted mansion at a Disney park. It’s one of Disney’s most popular attractions with a song that gets stuck in your head after you ride. Now you can experience the haunted mansion in a whole new way on the Disney Treasure. One of the new lounges on board is the Haunted Mansion Parlor, which is inspired by the 999 Happy Haunts.
The macabre and delightful bar features a few nods to Haunted Mansion attractions from places like Walt Disney World and Disneyland, as well as Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris. While soaking up the lounge atmosphere, poke around and get up close to the accessories. You might even find yourself in the middle of a murder mystery trying to solve how a ship’s captain died.

While sipping on themed cocktails, of which I love the Happily Never After, the room will come alive every few minutes. These little shows are called chapters and there are eight of them. You can stick around to watch them all while you’re inside the bar. You can see Madame Leota floating in the mirrored glass behind the bar, hear one of the portraits on the wall begin to sing, and see the lights begin to flash and the clocks tick as the ghosts begin to materialize before you.
Just be aware that the bar is family-friendly during the day, but after 9 p.m. it is exclusively for adults.
2. The shows with Sage and Coriander on the Disney Treasure are a must-see
Two of the newest “characters” aboard the Disney Treasure are a duo of traveling storytellers known as Sage and Coriander. You can often find them in the Great Hall or Sarabi, sharing stories and entertaining guests. While browsing, I popped into the Great Hall to see them reenact classic Disney stories like The Little Mermaid And Aladdin in a trunk-show style.

I also saw the duo perform in “Choose Wisely!” “An Indiana Jones Comic Adventure” in Sarabi, which was a rowdy, adults-only good time. Both perfectly reconstitute the five Indiana Jones films in about an hour with the help of the public.
Throughout the week, the duo could appear anywhere on board to share stories, play games or chat with other travelers. I promise you won’t be disappointed if you see these two.
3. Disney Treasure features Skipper Society, a bar based on the Jungle Cruise
If you like jungle cruising, check out the Skipper Society on the Disney Treasure. The cute outdoor bar offers tiki-style drinks in a fun setting reminiscent of the Disney Parks attraction. I loved the Piranha Punch, a fun take on a tropical margarita. During the day, the space is family-friendly, with activities like quizzes and games, while the evenings bring a more adult atmosphere with live music and dancing.
Try to get one of the two alcove seating areas, where you’ll see fun nods to the Jungle Cruise attraction. One of my favorites are the photos of the Jungle Cruise skippers, some of whom are Walt Disney Imagineers who worked for the Skipper Society but began their careers at Disney as theme park skippers.

The lounge is right across the street from the Haunted Mansion Parlor, so you can also do a little bar crawl while visiting. End the evening at the Scat Cat Lounge, which is located right next to the Great Hall, for a full tour of some of the new bars.
4. Plaza de Coco is a flagship dining experience
My favorite dining experience on the Disney Treasure was easily the Plaza de Coco, which is directly inspired by the Pixar animated film, Coco. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and resembles the place in the Mexican community where Miguel and his family live in the film. The dim lights bring an ever-present sunset feeling, while the lanterns twinkle above, adding to the overall ambiance. You’ll dine here on at least two nights during a typical seven-night cruise, but you’ll only have two movie-themed meals.

The first night picks up where the film left off as Miguel and his family dance and sing in the square. The second night is the real star. On the second evening, you will celebrate Día de los Muertos with Miguel and his ancestors. The musical numbers are captivating, thanks in part to a live Mariachi playing with Miguel. And the food that comes with it is some of the best Disney Cruise Line has ever offered.
5. AquaMouse: Curse of the Golden Egg is a fun water ride
Kids of all ages, including adults who are truly kids at heart, will love riding the ship’s top deck on the AquaMouse. The water roller coaster features an all-new Mickey Mouse short that plays before your raft takes off around the ship called “Curse of the Golden Egg.” The Egyptian-themed short is super cute, but the water jets and drops that match what’s happening during the short are what make it so fun.
I would suggest doing the AquaMouse on a day at the port, as the lines can be very long on sea days. You will also want to check what short film is showing, as there are yeti and mermaid themed shorts as well who tour with “Curse of the Golden Egg”. The water ride marquee will display the short film currently playing at any given time.
6. Disney The Tale of Moana is the best Disney Treasure show
Inside the Walt Disney Theater, you’ll experience fantastic shows, including the newest which will debut with the Disney Treasure is “Disney The Tale of Moana”. The Broadway-caliber spectacle is a retelling of the Disney Animation Studios film. Moanafeaturing live singers and dancers, puppets, projection mapping and other special effects.

The show is narrated by Grandma Tala, Moana’s grandmother from the film, which gives it a unique twist. I also loved that the series featured the song “Warrior Face,” inspired by the traditional Haka and originally cut from the film.
If you only see one show inside the Walt Disney Theater during your cruise, opt for this one. Try to get as close to the stage as possible so you can see all the details of the sets and costumes the actors are wearing.
