Wildhaven Yosemite Glamping Resort couldn’t be more aptly named. A sister site to the popular Wildhaven Sonoma, this spot near Mariposa, California takes glamping and comfort to a new level: My stay at Wildhaven Yosemite was equal parts relaxing, restorative, and invigorating. Wildhaven Yosemite is perfect for seasoned campers, new glampers, and hotel guests.
What you need to know about Wildhaven Yosemite
Location
Situated on a pretty hillside just outside of Mariposa, California, Wildhaven offers beautiful views (especially from the Valley View pergola and cabins, while other cabins are nestled in their own wooded area).
GOOD FOR FAMILIES: Yosemite Valley Adventures Big and Small
Wildhaven also offers easy access to the small town of Mariposa as well as Yosemite National Park through a scenic valley along the Merced River (which offers plenty of nice swimming spots for hot days), although it is important Note that it’s about a 45-minute drive from Wildhaven to the nearest park entrance and about an hour to the valley floor. So while this is a perfect place for a day trip to the valley on a relaxing getaway, if you want to maximize your time in Yosemite Valley, I might consider staying somewhere more close.
Accommodations
Wildhaven offers a variety of luxury glamping tents and cabins to suit every budget. Tents are cheaper than cabins and, in my opinion, much more charming, although cabins have en-suite bathrooms, better views and air conditioning, which was a lifesaver during my stay. visit during a heat wave.
Tents
Wildhaven’s tents are custom designed and safari style, with high ceilings and large windows, making them comfortable in all weathers. Although they don’t have a private bathroom, the tents are centered around a modern and clean shared bath, as well as a kitchen area and a shared fire pit.

The tents are divided into Standard and Premium tents, the difference being that Premium tents have better views, heated mattresses, larger decks (double the size) and year-round gas fireplaces (designed to heat , not for cooking). Both types of tents are equipped with a terrace, a heater, storage space for clothes, nightstands and lamps, a carpet, electricity, a fan, a mirror and a parking space, although only certain types of tents (Premium One-Queen tents) have a lockable door. The tents can accommodate up to two adults and four children and come in many different layouts, including a single queen bed, two queen beds, as well as a queen bed and four bunk beds.
Cabins
Cabins are Wildhaven’s most appointed options, as they all come with a bathroom with shower, kitchenette, large window with views, and air conditioning. There are two types of cabins: Classic and Valley View. Valley Views faces south and overlooks 2,000 acres of uninterrupted rolling hills. Classics still have views, but on a closer set of foothills and overlook the entrance road. Cabins sleep up to five people (two adults and three children) and feature a private patio with a picnic table, patio set, and fire pit with cooking grill.
GLORY OF THE NATIONAL PARK: Beautiful and less crowded national parks
Equipment
Wildhaven’s amenities are intentionally kept to a minimum, as the emphasis here is on connecting with nature without too many distractions. That being said, Wildhaven does offer Wi-Fi. Wildhaven doesn’t have any restaurants or food on-site, but shared grilling areas (and a place to wash your dishes) are available free for those staying in tents, and those staying in cabins have their own terrace for cooking.
LARGE HOTELS NEAR THE PARK: Best hotels near Yosemite National Park
Additionally, the pretty town of Mariposa is a five-minute drive away and offers numerous restaurants as well as grocery stores and farmers’ markets. So you’ll never run out of delicious food, even if you don’t feel like cooking. Wildhaven also makes full use of the natural beauty it sits on, including a hilltop pergola with stunning valley views (perfect for watching the sunset by the fire pit) and on-site trails.
Notice
Wildhaven Yosemite is still very new, so it doesn’t have many customer reviews yet, but gets 8.8 out of 10 on Expedia and 4.7 out of 5 on Yelp. Reviewers loved the friendly staff, the accessibility to Yosemite and Mariposa, and the cute tents and views.
What Makes Wildhaven Yosemite Special
Community orientation
Designed as an escape from the modern, urban, individualistic world many of us find ourselves in, this luxury glamping site really emphasizes the importance of community – with communal spaces including a cutting pergola hilltop breath, a communal fire pit, a public bathhouse (cabins have their own toilets, unlike tents) and a communal kitchen area, you’ll be sure to meet a crowd of individuals and families sharing the same ideas, and that connection to people and nature is truly what Wildhaven is. about. Continuing its commitment to the community, Wildhaven Yosemite features local businesses in summer activities including free live music from local bands, yoga classes from Yogasemite, and Sierra cider tastings.
Friendly, helpful staff and recommendations
It’s clear that Wildhaven carefully curated every aspect of the customer experience, as I didn’t miss a thing, including incredible service. Everyone at Wildhaven was extremely lovely and helpful, and even seemed energized and happy (maybe that’s what happens when you work in such a beautiful place?). We arrived incredibly late due to traffic and were greeted by a friendly person from the night shift who showed us to our tent and made us feel very welcome. Likewise, Wildhaven’s suggestions for what to do in Yosemite and Mariposa were thorough and thoughtful, and no additional research was really necessary to experience the best of both places. This level of excellent recommendations presented in an easily accessible format is a clear testament to the sophistication and careful care of the minds behind Wildhaven.
From my visit to Wildhaven Yosemite, it’s clear why the original property in Sonoma was such a success. Attention to detail and guest feedback is evident throughout the stay. There is so much this site has to offer, including an emphasis on comfort in nature as well as an emphasis on community and togetherness through the use of shared kitchen spaces and gardens. local activities. Not to mention the beautiful location with charming tents and fantastic sunset views. The fact that this site is close to Yosemite is almost just a bonus, because you could happily stay there for several days without even visiting one of the most incredible places on the planet! But you know, don’t do it.
